No longer do you have to punch a clock to make sure you get paid for the time you are there. However, starting a business is also very tedious and can be very time consuming. You need to get your ducks in a row before even opening your doors, so here are a few pointers to get you started:

- Research-you need to research all your local, state, and federal laws regarding business ownership as well as home based business.
- Taxes-You need to research the tax rules locally, state, and federal.
- Business name-think of a business name that you like, tells what you do, and is easy to remember. Some areas have what they call fictitious name requirements. Should you choose to use a fictitious name, you may be required to register your business name.
- Business plan-Once you have done your research, learned about tax issues and come up with a business name, next you need to work on a business plan. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy just putting all your ideas, goals, and thoughts down on paper.
